After spending a week up in Santa Ynez Valley, then on to San Diego for two nights, I decided to fly to Las Vegas ( not a fan ), to go to a home show. It's the first year they included antiques and vintage into the show. When I found this out I knew I needed to check it out.
Hunter S. Thompson said "a little bit of Vegas goes a long way", that about sums it up for me. My goal was to be in and out quickly. I had missed the first few days of the show but my fabulous friend John ( globallygorgeous.com ) was texting me while he was there, and giving me the low down on the show. I arrived on Wednesday, and worked the show for five hours straight. The next morning I did a few more hours and then home sweet home.
The show was worth going to, I found a few interesting pieces for the shop ( en route ) and a few pieces for my home. Vintage Industrial is very strong right now. I think if you mix it in with other looks it can be very cool. Think Soho loft meets mediterranean compound, or modern beach shack. Here are some examples of Industrial Chic:
It's a good look if you mix it in. I believe the best rooms are an eclectic mix of things you love to look at , and function well for the way you live. What do you think?
I am happy to be back in Santa Barbara, it's Fiesta, last night we had a glass of wine outside and we could hear the music playing in the distance. There is a lot of energy in the air right now. I was happy to catch up with some of my girls the other night at the beautiful Coral Casino Club. It was an added treat running into old friends I have not seen in a very long time. I look forward to more of that before summer is over. I can't believe we are approaching mid August!
We are off to a wedding in a vineyard today... very romantic.
